These sets arrived here recently and my first reaction when I took one out was omigosh, these are soooo hokey. Kinda cute but but really hokey.
You see, sometimes I don't get a good look at exactly what I order when I order it. There might be a thumbnail photo or a stock photo or no photo. At times I order items based on a description. This item had a very poor thumbnail photo but the description sounded appealing. Being that early autumn is my favorite time of year I went ahead and ordered these light sets.
Well, the first thing that caught my eye was the way these were labeled -- Lighted Garland 50 Lights with Pumpkins & Corns. Lol, corns. Okay, well, they weren't quite what I had expected but the quality was reasonably good and I went about the business of counting, inspecting and photographing them.
I got to the point where I figured I'd better plug one in to see how they look lit up and wow -- I was stunned! It turned out to be an extremely attractive garland! It gives off a gorgeous orange glow and definitely gives the area a soft and warm very inviting autumn ambience. Not hokey at all when it's lit. Now I can't wait for the beginning of autumn when I can put these up.
So, here's what they are. The first two photos below are flip sides of the package -- one side shows the pumpkins and the other side shows the corns. The garland has 50 lights on brown electrical cord. The bare bulbs under the little pumpkins and ears of corn are white; the other bulbs glow orange. The little pumpkins are about 1 5/8 inches in diameter. The little ears of corn are about 1 1/4 inches in diameter and 3 1/2 inches long. Both the pumpkins and corn are molded from hard plastic (the kind that clicks when you tap on it with your fingernail) so they're both pretty sturdy and should hold up well outdoors. The synthetic leaves are very colorful yellow, green and orange.
The total length of the garland is 9 feet. It's UL listed, recommended for either indoor or outdoor use and has plugs on both ends so that more than one of these sets can be strung together. As a general rule, Darice suggests that no more than three sets be joined end to end for safety purposes.
The light set comes with one spare orange bulb, one red-tipped bulb and a spare fuse. The red-tipped bulbs are usually the ones that when inserted make the set flash. I haven't tried it yet so I can't say for sure. Packaged as shown.
