This is an item I use quite frequently -- it's just enough to quickly press open a seam or to fuse an applique without having to fire up the big iron or haul out the ironing board. There's no steam; it's a dry iron only.
It's tiny compared to a regular iron, measuring only 4 by 2 1/2 by 2 3/4 inches. Easy to grip handle and a non-stick soleplate. The power cord detaches from the iron at the side socket for quick turn on and off. There is no on/off switch so just plug in the iron to use and unplug it when you're done. There's an indicator that glows to let you know when the iron is powered up but be careful anyhoo. It DOES get quite warm. By the same mechanism if you need heat just for a few moments and the iron is on the other side of the room, unplug it and carry it to where you need it. While unplugged, it should stay hot enough for short periods of time to do the job.
It heats up to a single temperature only and the temperature is not adjustable. The package reads 3 minute surface temp 293 degrees, 5 minute surface temp 329 degrees. I guess that means that the longer the iron is on the hotter it gets. 15 watts 120 volts. The plug is polarized.
One thing that I really like about this little item is that it has a long 8 foot cord! I can keep it next to my sewing machine on a towel and the cord stretches all the way to the plug under my cutting table. There are two little plastic feet which prevent the soleplate from touching the surface when it's standing upright.
