What Irish kitchen could be without a bottle of this stuff on St. Patrick's Day or any day of the year?
The bottle is made from light green colored glass, topped with a cork and labeled as Shannon River brand Shamrock Extract. The bottle measures just short of 8 inches tall and the base is about 2 3/4 inches square.
It's simply a decorative piece, of course. The bottle is empty but filling it with water and some green food coloring would be a kinda fun idea. As a general rule, these types of pieces which are made for decorative use aren't safe for use with food or beverages -- just a heads up in case the thought of putting something a wee bit stronger in there had crossed your mind. (wink)
I'm Polish and Slovak but I'm married 20+ years to a Flaherty. I held up this bottle and asked him, "If peppermint extract keeps mice away, what does shamrock extract keep away?" Without missing a beat, he replied "Snakes." :-D
Unfortunately, this one isn't made in Ireland, folks -- it's from Ohio Wholesake, made in China. For decorative use only.
