So unique! Primitive candle lamp is mounted on a life preserver that reads "Welcome to the Lake."

The lamp is lightweight -- my best guess would be that the life preserver is paper mache covered styro or dylite foam. It's painted off-white and rusticly stained. The ropes are made of 5-ply jute and are attached to the life preserver by fabric bands which are a deep mottled tea-stained color.

The light itself is on a wooden mount that's screwed into the back of the preserver. The shaft is a golden mustard color. The black cord has an on/off switch and a polarized plug. Use replacement bulbs of 7 watt maximum or lower only.

The life preserver measures 8 1/2" diameter and the whole piece extends about 3" from the wall.

I like the overall style of this lamp and the only thing that I would gripe about is the jute. It's flip floppy and doesn't really stay where it's put. If the nail in the wall is long enough, the lamp can hang from the top loop although it might be a bit tilted if it hangs. The back of the wooden mount is curved and won't lie flat against a wall. Otherwise, it sits fine on the little wooden base mount of the light and again, I'm guessing that this lamp was designed primarily to sit on a table or windowsill.
