A courting candle was used to keep time that a young lady and her suitor could spend together. A watchful dad could raise or lower the candle depending upon whether how much time he granted.
This courting candle holder is made from sturdy black metal and has a prim wooden peg mechanism. It measures approximately 6" tall and has a heart-shaped base. The candle is for display purposes only and is not included. These are individually made and can vary slightly from the one shown in the photo -- the style will always stay the same but there can be little variances like 1/2" difference in the heights of the handes, the look of the welds, etc.
A delightfully romantic item to display among your primitives. New without tag, the distributor indicates that this particular item is Amish made in the area of Lancaster, PA.
