Most often, orders are shipped within 24 hours. Orders received by noon EST can sometimes be shipped the same business day (Monday through Friday.)
Please note that at the current time our site is set up to only accept orders from addresses within the U.S. (including overseas U.S. military destinations.) From time to time a PayPal glitch permits international orders to be processed without a carrier cost. These PayPal payments will promptly be refunded.
Our cart's default shipping method is the United States Postal Service and the least expensive method will be displayed first. You can select First Class, Priority Mail or Express Mail for delivery with the USPS. FedEx is no longer compatible with our cart but we can indeed ship by FedEx. Ground and Home Delivery are often more economical options for heavier packages to the South and West. Please place your order by telephone at 412-487-7411 if you would prefer FedEx shipping or if you would like a quote.
Our shop is located in Western Pennsylvania. The shipping calculator on this site is weight-based and carrier costs go up with distance. An estimated shipping cost is displayed by default which can be higher or lower than the delivery method you select. Enter your zip code into the field provided and update the page to see the shipping/handling quotes to your destination and which shipping carriers and options are available. No worries, we try to keep shipping costs as low as we can.
Please keep in mind that the new Priority rates from the USPS are dimensional. Packages over a cubic foot in size, even though they may be relatively lightweight, travelling more than 500 miles are priced at the new higher dimensional rates which can, quite frankly, be outrageous. For instance, an 8 pound package going by Priority Mail from Pennsylvania to California has an actual USPS cost of $45.50! A 20" square 4 pound package now costs $77.95. Yeesh. So be sure to fiddle with the shipper options before checkout to figure out what option best fits your time and budget.
The option for First Class Mail will be displayed if the package weight is 13 ounces or less. Packages over 13 ounces will be sent by Priority Mail. First Class Mail is generally delivered within a week's time. Priority Mail is estimated at 2 to 3 business day delivery. Express Mail is delivered to most destinations in the U.S. by 4:30 PM the next business day. Parcel Post travels by ground; it is usually more economical but Parcel Post can be slower than molasses in January too and can sometimes take 14 days for cross-country delivery. If the items you are ordering are fragile, ground is probably not the best option. Parcel Post items tend to get banged around a lot during transit, much more so than Priority packages do. Our cart is not currently configured with Parcel Post as an option but if you would like your items delivered by Parcel Post just shoot us an email and we'll be happy to make arrangements.
FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery can be the best options for heavy and oversized parcels traveling across the country. Both of these methods are generally delivered within a week's time. FedEx Express Saver is most often delivered on the third business day. Please keep in mind that these are estimates only and that actual delivery times can be extended, especially during the busy winter holiday season.
UPS ground can be a particularly good option for mulitiple large or heavy weight items. We offer several UPS transit options as well.
You should receive two emails regarding a transaction with us -- a confirmation of order and a thank-you note from us telling you when your order will ship and which also will include the USPS delivery confirmation number or UPS or FedEx tracking number. The USPS DC can sometimes give a bit of tracking information as well.
If for any reason your order doesn't arrive in perfect condition (or if it doesn't arrive at all) please be sure to let us know! We want you to be happy with your order. Everything leaving our shop is guaranteed for a safe delivery. |
